    Description

    Greystone Golf Club is an 18-hole, daily fee golf course that offers a challenging yet fun round of golf to players of all skill levels.  Located in historic Dickson, the course is a short drive from Nashville and is easily accessible throughout Middle Tennessee.  We have Bentgrass greens, Meyer Zoysia tees and fairways, and Fescue/Bermuda roughs.
     
    Job Overview
     
    Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in comprehensive golf course management and upkeep. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, turf management programs, property/asset management, personnel management and development, irrigation system oversight and administering pesticide applications.
     
    Requirements
     
    Basic Functions

    • Assist Superintendent in all phases of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, cost control and personnel
    • Works directly with the Superintendent to maintain golf course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner
    • Work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
    • Aid in the care and maintenance of turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees on the property
    • Aids and assists staff with planting of new vegetation, maintaining and periodically removing and replacing trees, and focusing on high stress areas
    • Aids in the recruitment, supervision and retention of maintenance staff.
    • Oversees staff in the proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
    • Participates in the application and recording of chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides…) on the Club’s grounds in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
    • Acts as Superintendent when the Superintendent is absent

     
    Knowledge & Skills Required 

    • Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs
    • Knowledge of use of equipment and tools used for golf course maintenance
    • Skilled in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating employees
    • As required have the proper certifications for safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products used in maintaining the course
    • Cursory knowledge of the game of golf, rules and methods of play
    • Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment and material needs related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments
    • Ability and knowledge to layout irrigation and drainage patterns

     
    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Two-year Degree or Certification in Turf Management or related field, (ex. Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant or Soil Science) or equivalent experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems
    • Valid driver’s license

    The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the successful operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Department and Clubhouse Grounds Maintenance.

    The Superintendent works closely with the General Manager on capital improvement expansion projects, as well as interaction with the Head Golf Professional to maximize the number of rounds of golf played by scheduling maintenance practices around play and outings to maximize efficiency is essential.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides agronomic direction to maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times
    • Follows company standards for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees, wetlands, and other applicable plant materials
    • Programs for turf/grass, material and chemical maintenance, and asset management are critical to the success of this role
    • Prepares an annual budget and achieves these financial goals throughout the year, through proper forecasting, expense controls and labor management
    • Responsible for hiring, training and developing all staff
    • Ensures staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
    • 3 - 5 years in Golf Course Maintenance management
    • Pesticide Applicators License required
    • Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and record keeping as required by local, state and federal laws

    Position: Golf Course Maintenance Mechanic

    Course: Egwani Farms Golf Course (Rockford, TN)

    The mechanic will perform minor and major equipment repairs in addition to implementing a detailed preventative maintenance program for each unit in the fleet. The mechanic will report directly to the course superintendent on a daily basis to ensure that the equipment fleet is prepared to provide great conditions for our members.

    Experience Requirements

    • At least 2 years mechanical experience on a golf course is highly preferred
    • Positive attitude and ability to work well with the rest of the staff is a must
    • Must be highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented, as well as maintain equipment repair logs
    • Schedule and perform all maintenance on golf/grounds equipment to include daily inspections, adjusting, greasing, and scheduling of hourly maintenance of golf/grounds equipment.
    • Conduct an effective preventative maintenance program on all equipment
    • Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on all golf course equipment /golf carts
    • Must possess a strong working knowledge of reel sharpening and reel set-up

    Position: Foreman

    Course: Egwani Farms Golf Course (Rockford, TN)

    The spray /Irrigation Technician, under the supervision of the Director of grounds or Assistant/Grounds Supervisor, performs chemical applications and irrigation repairs on the golf course; fertilizes tees, greens, and fairways; and applies chemicals on the greens.

    The Spray/Irrigation Technician is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage and irrigation inventory for the director of Grounds.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Lead all efforts related to pesticide applications. Operate and oversee maintenance of all spraying and application equipment.
    • Maintain and calibrate all pesticide application equipment to include, sprayers and spreaders.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of Best Management Practices as it relates to safe and proper application of pesticides.
    • Preventive maintenance and repair in all aspects of irrigation efficiency.
    • Properly mows greensand tees.
    • Operates tractors, using specific attachments, to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas.
    • Assist with landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on golf course.
    • Responsible for bunker maintenance.
    • Repairs divots throughout course.
    • Rakes sand traps
    • Maintains a strong knowledge of emergency procedures.

    Experience and Education

    • High School education or equivalent required.
    • Prior golf maintenance experience strongly preferred.
    • Must have a valid driver license and meet company driving standards.
    • Excellent equipment operation skills.

    Position: Assistant Superintendent

    This position is responsible for assisting with implementing and maintaining procedures and processes for accomplishing goals and meeting standards for the daily course operations including course conditioning, staff related issues, and administrative duties as needed.

    Dead Horse Lake Golf Course is seeking a dependable, qualified Equipment Manager for our team. The position is a full time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Dead Horse Lake is an 18-hole public daily fee course with Champion Ultra Dwarf Bermudagrass greens. Tees, fairways, and rough are 419 Bermudagrass.

    Job Purpose:

    The Equipment Manager is responsible for maintenance and repairs of all equipment and cart fleet. This person will be responsible for making efficient and effective major and minor repairs on a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment under the general direction of the Superintendent.

    General Requirements:

    • High School degree or equivalent
    • A valid driver’s license
    • Ability to pass a random drug test
    • Must be highly motivated, goal driven, attentive to detail, and self-starting on duties
    • Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and a cloud based office suite (Preferred)

    Experience Requirements:

    • Knowledge, experience, and skill in reel maintenance, sharpening, and adjustment
    • Ability to understand hydraulic theory, schematics, care, and operation of hydraulic systems

    • Ability to correctly care for and repair DC electrical systems, including reading electrical schematics and trouble-shooting
    • Ability to prioritize equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, while completing them in an expedient manner

    The position of Assistant Superintendent at Windyke Country Club is described as someone who works closely with the Superintendent to maintain and improve the club property with a special emphasis on golf.  The right candidate will exhibit positive leadership skills and have a willingness to learn. The position requires involvement in all aspects of facility maintenance including but not limited to: moisture management, disease management, fertilizer/chemical applications, irrigation repairs, daily course setup, staff training, supervision, project development and implementation, and other duties assigned. The Assistant must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a TN Pesticide Applicator License.
